How We Built Simone's

First Look at the Property

The principals behind Simone's started considering properties in 2007, finally settling on a Pilsen building that occupies a double lot at the northwest corner of 18th and Morgan streets.

This view shows the original structure from across Morgan Street, looking at the east side of the building.

The building retained a number of original architectural details, including this rooftop ornamentation.

The back of the property housed a large commercial garage.

Russ and Michael were among the first to plumb the mysteries of the garage.

When purchased, the garage was filled with old vehicles and various flotsam and jetsam.

This view shows the original structure from directly south across 18th Street.

The property formerly housed the Curves for Women facility.

This view looks toward the front of the building from inside the original Curves for Women space.

No inspection would be complete without peeking above the drop ceiling, where we found two styles of original tin ceiling tiles.
